Why choose cello lessons at Stage Music Center?

You benefit from a cello education adapted to beginners or to more advanced students.

Our experienced cello instructors teach children (age 7+), teenagers and adults.

To ensure that your private cello lessons are most effective, we find the experienced teacher among our cello instructors that is the best match for you: we take into consideration your age, level and interests.

Are you interested in improving your cello playing or learning the cello instrument for the first time? At our music school we provide cello lessons for beginners with no prior experience, for intermediate and for more advanced students.

Cello lessons are tailored to your age.  We teach adult cello students, teenagers and children. Cello instruments come in many sizes, making it adaptable for young students to begin. Note that the cello instructor assesses a child's readiness to start lessons and alerts parents if it is too soon and they should consider waiting a little bit more.

Our cello instructors teach the Suzuki program as well as other traditional approaches. You will learn not only to play a variety of genres but also to love and enjoy playing music through mastering cello techniques. Cello can be played in every kind of music including classical, rock or jazz.

Whether you are a cello beginner excited to play your favorite songs or an advanced student looking to perfect your technique, Stage Music Center Arts Academy will help you achieve your musical goals!

Every student is different. Your cello education will be unique because your weekly lessons are tailored to meet your needs and abilities.

You benefit from weekly private cello lessons with experienced teachers.

You will enjoy a one-on-one weekly private lesson for 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending on what you need.

During each class, on top of cello technique, you learn sight reading, music theory and ear training. Your cello teacher will make sure to always keep you challenged and interested!

In your cello lesson, you benefit from your teacher's undivided attention. You will progress faster than in a group setting where the teacher has to balance between different levels of abilities. You will also feel so much more at ease if you are part of an ensemble or band as you will have worked on your specific technique.

If the class is for a child, a parent can attend the class but only if they wish to. We do not require that a parent remains in the class. Our teachers use positive communication to support children’s progress.

Our cello instructors have been awarded by prestigious musical colleges and have years of professional education and experience. They are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you to achieve them. To learn more about them, please check our faculty page.

Cello lessons - Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should a student start cello?

We usually advise 7 years old as a minimum but had success with younger students. There is no age limit to start if you are physically fit for the instrument.

No matter what age, you will succeed if you love music, have an encouraging environment and a devoted teacher, which always will be the case at Stage Music Center!

Is there a lot of practice involved?

It is recommended to practice cello every day whether it is just 10 minutes or more. The more days per week you practice, the faster you will enjoy reaching your musical goals.  Also, practice will be rewarding as you will quickly play pieces of music that you didn't think you could master when you started.

We help you or your child be enthusiastic about practicing his/her cello instrument! We set achievable goals for each practice session that combined with some self-discipline will ensure enjoyable practice time.

For children, a regular practice early on, makes their future path a much more successful later as they will have acquired self-discipline while learning an instrument they love.

If cello lessons are for children, do parents have to stay in class?

Parent's presence during a class is not required but you are welcome to attend to your child's cello lesson if you wish to!  We don't require parents to stay to support children's self dependence. For children, studies have shown that taking music lessons helps with focus and discipline. Every child is different and if you believe that your child's learning curve would be better with you in the classroom, please feel free to stay and assist.
